Hi. I’m Dr. Stevie.

I’ve always known that helping others to heal is a part of who I am. I believe in the miracles that can occur when we address underlying emotional wounds that create somatic issues. In addition to my primary specialty of trauma, I also specialize in addictions, attachment and relationship issues, and sex therapy.

“Working with Dr. Stanford as my therapist has been a transformative experience. Dr. Stanford has led the cultivation of an incredible sacred space where I feel safe and supported in exploring the past traumas that have impacted my present state. Her humor, compassion, and insightful guidance have been instrumental in my healing journey, allowing me to confront and overcome deep-seated issues with confidence. I am deeply grateful for her unwavering dedication and the profound impact she has had on my mental and emotional well-being.”

Prior to graduate school, I was a massage therapist and a trained yoga instructor. I’m grateful for these experiences because I believe they taught me just how much the body remembers. I genuinely love to learn and wanted to know more about how I could help people overcome difficulties. I earned my Master’s in Counseling and my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona.

I’ve worked in the psychology field for over 20 years and had the opportunity to practice in a variety of settings. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, specifically with adolescent females, specializing in those who have been adopted. My research on the impact of attachment trauma and family of origin issues on one’s emotional regulation and future relationships has had a profound effect on the way that I conceptualize therapy.

"A friend referred me to Dr. Stevie at the end of my 25-year marriage because she specializes in betrayal trauma. Untangling from someone who was part of my identity for more than half my life made me feel like I was being erased. I needed help getting through it, but I've come out the other side feeling stronger and more whole than I ever have in my entire life. Working with Dr. Stevie has helped me establish boundaries and improve so many other relationships in my life, but most importantly the one with myself."
